The three states are created out of the invisible and unborn Soul, the Self, which is present in the form of consciousness. The three states are waking (Jagarath), dream(Swpan), and deep sleep (Shusupthi).

The one who is aware of the invisible substance withness of the three states mentally enters the state of oneness or the state of Advaita.
In these three states, everything is subject to change, yet the three states are pervaded by the invisible Soul is the Self, which is present in the form of consciousness.
,
The invisible Soul, the Self, is present in the form of consciousness.
The seeker of truth has to practice the mental renunciation of the three states and be strong in his conviction that the Soul is the Self.
The seeker has to realize that whatever is perceived within the waking experience is from the base of ‘I’ as the Self is merely an illusion.
The three states are of the nature of change. There is no permanence in them. However, that which sustains the three states is never changing. It is always the same. That is the invisible Soul, the Self.
On the invisible Soul, the Self, everything rests. It is like a movie projected on a screen. The movie changes, but the screen is constant. Similarly, the phenomenal waking or the dream is projected on the invisible Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness. In deep sleep, the invisible Soul, the Self, remains without any projection. : ~ Santthosh Kumaar
