Q: Dear Santtosh, I agree with you as far as the words of Shanker are concerned. I am also a lover of this great saint of India, and I am also a vedantin myself but what to do with them who have not the reached such height and to such wisdom?swami

Dear Swamiji

As per my conviction: ~

As per the scriptures, the three "Ashrams" or stages in life were originally intended for three grades of intelligence thus: ~

 Religion: low intellects had to do 'karmas' works, ritual actions, chanting of mantras and indulging in bhajans and prayers etc.

 Middle intellects: Yoga: taking yellow robes, going to caves, ashrams etc.

 High intellects: wisdom who wanted truth are concerned with no external rites or sanyasa but depend solely on intelligent inquiry for their path.

One has to chose his path whichever suits him

The seeker should not bother about others realization but must strive for his own realization of truth.

Sages of truth restrained themselves parting the Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana to the masses and only a selected few.

Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana was hidden from the people who were not qualified and receptive to it.

Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana was not written down but was imparted orally to the chosen few.

Thus, religion was given to the ignorant populace and the knowledge of the Spirit, the God is given only selected few.

Thus, we find traces of the knowledge of the spirit in the religious books in the form of parables.

Guru, Swami, Yogi, Sadhu, and Avatar belongs to religious paths. Religious paths are path meant for the ignorant who blindly accept their experience the birth, life, death and the world as a reality because the universe is the product of ignorance.

When Advaitic wisdom dawns then the unreal nature of the world in which you exist is exposed. Thus, whatever experiences takes place within the world in which you exist is bound to be a falsehood.

The Guru, Swami, Yogi, Sadhu, and Avatara have nothing to do with the ultimate truth or Brahman because they are based on the false Self (ego) and false experience (waking).

The Path of wisdom is only for those who are seriously in search ultimate truth or Brahman. Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana is the knowledge of the truth, which is beyond the form, time, and space.

The Bhagavad Gita says: ~ Among thousands of men, scarcely one strives for perfection; and of those who strive and succeed, scarcely one knows the Self in truth.

The path of wisdom attracts only those who are in search of truth and they appreciate it greatly. The ignorant are not spiritually mature enough to receive Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.

The ignorant indulge in argument and provocation and personal attack, which hinder their own realization of the ultimate truth or Brahman.

That is why Jesus said: - Do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you. (Matthew -7:6)

~ Jesus meant Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.

Bhagavad Gita says: ~ “Don't unsettle the minds of the ignorant by revealing the esoteric truth."

Katha Upanishad says: ~ This Atman is attained by him alone whom It chooses. (II -23-P-20)

Thus, those who have taken the path of wisdom are chosen ones. The chosen one will get the grace of the invisible Soul, the inner Guru.

The path of wisdom is the Soulcentric path, whereas all other paths are egocentric. All egocentric paths lead to hallucination.

The invisible Soul, the Self, reveals ‘what is real’ and ‘what is unreal” when the seeker is receptive and ready.

What is the use of being emotionally attached to the physical Gurus and saints when they are part of the dualistic illusion? The dualistic illusion is the product of ignorance.

Getting rid of ignorance through Advaitic wisdom is the goal of the true seeker.

Humanity has to awaken to the reality of its true existence by realizing the world in which humanity exists is mere an illusion created out of consciousness through Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.

Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana frees the invisible Soul, the Self from the cage of the dualistic illusion.

Sage Sankara said:~ Talk as much philosophy as you like, worship as many Gods as you please, observe ceremonies and sing devotional hymns, but liberation will never come, even after a hundred aeons, without realizing the Oneness.

A Gnani is neither anyone’s guru nor anyone’s disciple. He respects all the sage of the past and he highlights good points in their teaching and he also highlights the obstacles, which blocks the realization of the ultimate truth.

The invisible Soul is the Self. The invisible Soul is present in the form of consciousness. The invisible Soul is the witness-consciousness that experiences the action, the actor, and the world of separate things. It is like a light that illuminates everything in a theatre, revealing the master of ceremonies, the guests, and the dancers with complete impartiality. Even when they all depart, the light shines to reveal their absence.

One knows everything within the waking experience is consciousness because the waking experience itself is mere an illusion created out of the consciousness. The physical apparatus is absent in deep sleep, so one cannot know anything by intuition, because there is no duality in deep sleep. This proves that the duality is present only in waking or dream. And also it proves that if there be such a faculty as intuition it must be limited to the physical Self within the physical existence.

Sage Sankara says: ~ VC-162- There is no liberation for a person of mere book knowledge, howsoever well-read in the philosophy of Vedanta, so long as one does not give up the false identification with the body, sense organs, etc., which are unreal.

People dwelling in the ignorance, but thinking themselves wise and erudite, go round and round by various blind beliefs and tortuous paths and practices, like the blind led by the blind.

Swami Vivekananda said:~ "The Vedas teach that the Soul is divine, only held in the bondage of matter; perfection will be reached when this bond will burst, and the word they use for it is, therefore, Mukthi - freedom, freedom from the bonds of imperfection, freedom from death and misery."

The truth is very simple, but it is very difficult to grasp because of the ignorance.

You have to realize the world in which you exist is created out of single clay. And that single clay is the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.

Thus, you and your body and the world in which you exist are nothing but consciousness because they are merely an illusion created out of consciousness. Perfect understanding of ‘what is what’ is needed.

I can point at the sky, but the seeing of the star is the seeker's own work.

It is necessary to reflect on the same truth again and again till it becomes a reality. One needs to constantly reflect on the subject until one gets a firm conviction of 'what is what'. Words of wisdom are needed until one gets a firm conviction of ‘what is what’.

People need to read and hear the words of wisdom to think reason and reflect deeply and reach the ultimate end.

It takes time for the seeker to gain the perfect understanding of ‘what is truth’ and ‘’what is untruth’.

It takes time for the invisible Soul, the Self, to wake up from the sleep of ignorance, and it takes time for one realizes the truth, which is beyond form, time, and space. : ~ Santthosh Kumaar
